If you are interested in rock formations, fossils and multicolored minerals, go with us for a day to the Świętokrzyskie Mountains and the vicinity of Kielce. From the heart of the oldest Polish mountains, we will set off on a geological journey around the capital of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. Come with us on a bicycle trip in the picturesque surroundings of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains, we will look inside the earth, we will admire rocks and minerals. Kielce, which we will also visit, can boast of interesting reserves and monuments.

Bodzentyn – we will start our journey in Bodzentyn at the foot of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains. There are ruins of the castle of Kraków bishops from the 14th century and rebuilt in the 14th century.
The Świętokrzyskie Mountains – next to the Sudetes, are one of the oldest mountain ranges in Europe. They were uplifted, destroyed and flooded several times by the seas. They are characterized in the upper parts of the so-called the gravel area (rock debris), in the lower ones, beech and fir forests enchant. Our route leads south, crossing the highest range of Łysogóry. You will catch our breath in Święta Katarzyna after reaching the highest point on the route 323 m a.s.l. Then start going down there with a panoramic view of other mountain ranges, and behind our back the highest peak of the Świętokrzyskie Mountains – Łysica (614 m above sea level).
Museum of Minerals and Fossils – you will see over 1000 shows of minerals, precious stones and fossils on display in 5 rooms. With a bit of luck, we can find a stone grinding show.
Reserves Kielce – the city can boast as many as five reserves in the immediate vicinity. The most famous and representative is Kadzielnia. It is a former quarry where, apart from beautiful views, you can find mainly fossils and valuable rock formations. The reserve is dominated by the impressive Geologists’ Rock and caves open to the public. You will traverse it along the underground route. The Wietrznia reserve is also worth visiting, where is a modern Geoeducation Center.
Kielce – the capital of the region also hides architectural and cultural treasures. You can admire the Cathedral of St. Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the building of the National Museum – the former palace of the bishops of Krakow and the main squer. We will finish our journey on the market.
